Theo Ratliff is known as one of the best defensive centers in the NBA, he holds records for most shots blocked and learned early on in life to give back especially with his mom’s activism for the elderly in their hometown, Demopolis, Alabama. Also influential in his life, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr visited their hometown and had dinner at his grandmother’s table which taught young Theo about stepping into manhood. He played college hoops at University of Wyoming from which he still remains the highest-ranked player to be drafted into the NBA. His 16-year NBA career contains many history-making records but to cement his family’s legacy he built the Theo Ratliff Activity Center in Demopolis, Alabama. A decade later, he started the Theo Ratliff Foundation educating youth through financial literacy and entrepreneurship programs. Tune in to hear more about Theo’s dinner with Dr. King and his published book, “Theo the Hero” about anti-bullying.
